Our surgical and patient-care schedule is always heavily booked, which means the number of surgery dates and reservations we can allocate is limited. We ask patients for a deposit in order to reserve and secure the date, both for the availability of the whole surgical team and to hold a slot in the hospital’s operating theatres.
When a patient books a particular surgery date, that date is assigned to them. It therefore becomes unavailable to other patients and reduces the surgical slots available in theatre, so neither another patient can use that date nor another hospital surgeon that theatre. We do understand, however, that unforeseen events happen. For that reason we are also able to allow a change of surgery date, which may be done on one occasion only.
If a patient cancels without notice, we lose the opportunity to offer that surgical slot to someone else, and the theatre time cannot be taken up by another hospital surgeon either. For that reason, the following charges apply where surgery is cancelled or rescheduled:
- With more than ten days’ notice, cancelling the surgery carries a charge of 50% of the booking deposit. There is no charge for rescheduling the first time.
- With three days’ notice or less, cancelling the surgery carries a charge of 100% of the deposit, plus any services and tests already carried out, including work done by our staff. Rescheduling carries a charge of 20% of the total quoted.
- Where no new date is set, cancelling the surgery carries a charge of 100% of the deposit, plus any services and tests already carried out, including work done by our staff. Rescheduling is not available in this case.
Payments made for consultations, staff fees, tests carried out and medical reviews are NON-refundable.
